Pools Across Southern Nevada

Beyond the four largest jurisdictions, Southern Nevada includes Boulder City, Mesquite, Pahrump and rural communities in Clark County. Boulder City and Mesquite have their own building departments. Pahrump is in Nye County. Rural communities in unincorporated Clark County generally fall under the Clark County Building Department. Boulder City, Pahrump and Mesquite were among the voting municipalities on the regional committee that developed the Southern Nevada amendments to the 2024 pool code (amendments), but each jurisdiction adopts codes on its own schedule. We haven’t verified local forms or procedures for these areas, so check with the local building department.

Rural sites can raise different issues. Septic systems, for example, need plans stamped by the Health District before a Clark County pool permit is issued (BPG-185). Water source and water provider may also differ. Ask how pool drain water must be handled where no sanitary sewer is available.

Some rules are the same everywhere in the state. Nevada’s residential pool contract requirements, including deposit limits, stage-based payment schedules and lien releases, apply statewide, and your contractor must hold an appropriate Nevada license (NSCB).
